Coosa Trail

The Coosa trail starts at the Double Bridges Trailhead in the Coosa Wildlife Management. From intersection of AL 22 and US 231, travel south 8.1 miles on AL 22 to CR 29/Kelly's Crossroads. Turn right and drive 1.8 miles. Cross bridge and take immediate left for the Coosa WMA Double Bridges area. GPS: 32.8613792 -86.3387123

The Double Bridges Trailhead is within the Coosa Wildlife Management Area's Forever Wild lands, 9,746 acres of Mountain Longleaf Pine habitat interspersed by hardwood drains within the Weogufka and Hatchet Creek watersheds. The Forever Wild property also hosts one of the last remaining populations of Red-cockaded Woodpeckers outside of Alabama's National Forest system. The Alabama Hiking Trail Society builds and maintains hiking trails within the state of Alabama.
